Have you ever wondered about the spirit world? Have you ever felt there’s a deeper meaning to what’s happening in your life? Do you believe in reincarnation?
Spiritism is a science, philosophy and religion all in one. Followers believe in the communication with spirits and healing illnesses through spiritual therapies. It’s a global movement, particularly popular in Brazil, where there are an estimated 5 million followers.
The Spiritist Film Festival of Australia will be the first of its kind and it’s being held right here on the Gold Coast. Event Cinemas Australia Fair and Southport Community Centre are hosting the event from the 1st- 3rd of September.
“Absolutely everyone is welcome,” organiser Katie Furge said. “Spiritism respects all religion and philosophies and values all efforts towards the practice of good deeds. Apart from knowledge and awareness about Spiritism, anyone attending the festival would be invited to reflect on its theme ‘The Gift of Life’. The SFF hopes attendees will consider spiritual awareness as an important step towards their individual transformation to achieve inner peace.”
The event is also timed to coincide with World Suicide Prevention Day which also happens in September. Organisers are hoping to shed more light on a subject that’s often kept behind closed doors. The three day festival will include feature film screenings, with “Astral City” and “Togetherness”. Astral City, originally entitled Nosso Lar, broke box office records in Brazil, with an audience of about a million people just at the opening weekend. At the same time, we will have the official launch of the book of the same title, which is the number one selling title amongst Spiritist readers in the world and will be launched in English this year by the Australian publisher Arcadia Press.
There will also be free seminars with guest speakers from all over the world, including internationally recognised Spiritist and active contributor of nearly three decades Elsa Rossi, who has been personally affected by suicide. Elsa has also written 27 books published in English, German, Spanish and Portuguese.
The festival is an initiative of Arising Sun and it’s a 100% not-for-profit event. Tickets can be booked at http://festival.arisingsun.org/my-front-page/tickets/.
