Many of us have heard (and know) that love creates miracles. Yet, it’s not the only frequency that can create the extraordinary—so does appreciation. Loving appreciation as a way of life benefits all aspects of life, from the mundane to the spiritual, for the more you appreciate, the more you receive from giving—it’s a mutual gift. In this fast-paced world of endless demands and expectations that we’ve become immersed in, not many are present enough to fully savour a sunrise, a meal, a hug, a cup of tea, a flower… Life’s precious gifts are lost in a blur while appreciation’s divine force awaits to be of service once again.
Appreciation is a deeper level of gratitude that combines the awareness of your mind with the emotion within your heart—by acknowledging why you’re grateful, so that you feel it within. It unites your mind with your heart and creates a powerful force—a gift. Its beneficial power, like love, is limitless. Along with love, it truly can beneficially transform our world, and it doesn’t cost anything nor requires much effort at all—just a mindful open heart. Each of us has the power to be such a great force for change every single moment.
No amount of appreciation goes unnoticed by the divinity that flows through all life! Life (beyond human connections) is continuously showing evidence that our appreciation is received and has effects far greater than we can imagine. I have countless personal examples of this.
Several years ago I was living in Winnipeg and went for a walk down a busy street. The only Nature present was the sky above me, so I brought my attention to the billowy white clouds that filled the sunny sky. At one point I decided to focus on two very large clouds ahead of me. As I did so, I set a heart intention to send all the clouds my loving appreciation for their presence. I radiated this energy to them all, while focusing on the two clouds. After a moment, I paused and briefly closed my eyes, asking these clouds if they could feel my energy flowing to them. When I opened my eyes, these two clouds had separated into four and formed a giant, detailed happy face, complete with two eyes, a nose, and a curving, smiling mouth! I was astonished by their immediate, remarkable response and smiled back with joyful delight. Shortly afterwards, they merged into one big cloud.
Most people know how uplifting it feels to receive appreciation. All forms of life and consciousness are affected in this positive way when receiving this high frequency. Our world needs us to feel and express appreciation for all that we’re provided on a daily basis. The general lack of appreciation has allowed so much of our invaluable natural world and its diversity of inhabitants, our pure water and foods, our clean air and all that is sacred, to be damaged or destroyed.
Appreciation is such a potent force of transformation. Just a few weeks ago, I was experiencing icy streets and extreme cold in Anchorage, and those conditions can quickly zap my positive disposition. Instead of allowing this to plummet my mood, I chose to focus on what I do appreciate about northern winters. My favourite thing is hoarfrost, which covers every surface like tree branches and dried plants with sparkling, intricate, lace-like ice crystals—a divine masterpiece! I took it further by featuring my appreciation of this beautiful phenomenon in my e-newsletter that I published that night, including spectacular photos I’d taken over the years. Well… the next day when I woke up and looked out the window, I was speechless with awe to discover that the entire landscape had been transformed by gloriously sparkling hoarfrost! It so deeply touched my heart—even more so when I felt a wave of profound love flow through me (an acknowledgement from Spirit and Nature for my honouring of this beauty through my appreciation).
Appreciation as a way of life is truly incredible and infinitely powerful. Its essence really is pure magick and we all have access to it.
